(Glorious Final Fantasy Logo)
Glorious Final Fantasy is a fan website dedicated to the Final Fantasy video game series. The site contains a wealth of information about each game in the series and is used as a virtual resource. Fans can also register with the website discussion forums where they create a profile and are then able to message other community members, post topics and ask questions.
(Glorious Final Fantasy Community Discussion Forums)
Two main sections of the website were created. The main site was created using a content management system (CMS) and contains all the information of the website. The second part of the website is a discussion forum which is for posting and discussing various issues, sharing files, and has many other optional add-ons that are useful in attracting and keeping people on a website.
(Displaying data from sites like Wikipedia)
A CMS (above) allows for simple creation, editing, and deletion of website data by the owner and anyone else the owner gives permissions to. It is a great way for a site owner to control the content and accessiblity of a site without possessing technical skills. Information can be updated, edited, or deleted from any web browser when the site owner simply logs on. The Glorious Final Fantasy CMS has been configured to pull data right off of wikipedia and other wiki-type sites essentially making the website a mirror of the entire wikipedia website.
(Administrative Control Panel for the Discussion Forums)
This image is an example of what an administrative page looks like inside of the gff forums. The forums allow people the opportunity to create fully customizable accounts where they can view, discuss, and message other community members about whatever topics are specified by the owner. The site owner can also customize everything about the forums down to the last detail. To view the Glorious Final Fantasy main website in a new window click here. (The United - Welcome Page)
The United is an Albuquerque, New Mexico based punk-rock band.
(The United Band Page)
The website contains the following sections: home, music, band, links, images, shows, contact, news, and guestbook. It was one of the first projects undertaken in 2002. The site is currently due for a redevelopment.
(The United Home Page)
This simple website features dynamic links that change color and font as the mouse pointer moves over them. A similar technique is applied to the band page. On that page the viewer can move the mouse over the face of each band member which is then replaced with the members' name and a corresponding page about that member. On the contact page several options are available for reaching the band. A viewer can choose to "contact us", "book us", "ridicule us", or "enlighten us." On the shows page and news page the latest information is taken from a database that the band enters information into.
(The United Links Page)
The most dramatic features of the website are the photos and font styles used. Websites can only display fonts on a website that are installed on the users' actual computer (except in special cases). Almost all fonts shown on this website are actually images. The process is time-intensive and not update friendly, but it allows for more options in the design.
